GINNY WEASLEY
SIXTH YEAR | GRYFFINDOR

APPEARANCE
Ginny’s wan, oval façade is home to an array of vibrant Weasley freckles. When she was young, Ginny despised these birthmarks, as many girls her age do. However, as she matured, she has come to appreciate the uniqueness of her features.

Her pale lips are full, and prone to form a pout when she is upset. In fact, it is quite easy to read any expression that crosses her youthful face, be it happiness, slyness, or something slightly wicked. Her pale skin will turn a horrid shade of red when she is agitated or embarrassed.

Ginny keeps her thick, fiery red hair long, and usually wears it down so as to hide her ears-- which she considers quite undesirable. Her hair tends to lighten in the summer, and darken in the winter, though it always remains vivid.

Ginny is quite tall for her age, possessing lanky, somewhat awkward limbs, like those of Ron. She carries herself well, however, and her agility lends to her athletic talent. Being fond of her mother’s homemade meals, Ginny is of a healthy weight that suits her well.

HISTORY & PERSONALITY
Ginny-- more formally known as Ginevra Molly Weasley-- was born into a very large, very devoted wizarding family and spent much of her childhood in the shadow of six elder brothers. Though her blood status is ‘pure’, it has always been outshined by her family’s somewhat impoverished state.

Before her Hogwarts years, Ginny saw no real benefit in speaking for herself, and frequently allowed the boys to do all of the talking. However, first appearances are never quite accurate: while her brothers bloomed in their social lives, Ginny was busy developing her own independence and maturing into the bold, young lioness that she is today.

Though she was often bitter about being left out of the backyard Quidditch practices or garden adventures at the Burrow (solely for being young and female), Ginny spent this excess time analyzing her family. The overwhelming number of males in the Weasley household has made the Burrow-- an old and wonderfully homey country dwelling-- a loud and exciting place to grow up.

She not only inherited the twins’ humor, and Bill’s edgy side, but also a bit of Percy’s studiousness. Her time alone has made Ginny quick and calculating enough to put even Fred or George in their places. These qualities make the girl interesting to people such as Professor Slughorn.

Ginny’s parents are considered a disgrace to the few remaining elitist and prejudice wizards of pureblood society. However, the Weasleys have always been quite popular amongst those magical people who do not care to judge others based on genealogy and finances. Her father, Arthur, is infatuated with the Muggle world, and until recently, oversaw the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts department on a very low wage. If not encouraging his children in their adventurous activity, he has always been much less uptight than his wife, concerning matters of mischief.

Being the only female child, Ginny has always been extremely close with her mother-- who, despite not being the financial provider of the family, definitely wears the pants in parental decisions. Ginny spent many mornings helping her mother with breakfast or household chores. She has, in fact, developed her own excellent recipe for the ultimate chocolate biscuits.

Though children are not officially allowed to practice magic until they reach school, there were several instances in Ginny’s pre-Hogwarts years in which she got a hold of one of the Weasley wands and wreaked miniscule havoc of her own. The girl also secretly taught herself how to fly, much to the surprise of her family. She greatly enjoys Quidditch as she is able to release her energy and aggression. She currently plays chaser for the Gryffindor Quidditch team.

In her earlier years at Hogwarts, Ginny’s infatuation with Harry Potter seemed to the get best of her. Though she was comfortable and confident around her own friends, her crush on Harry caused the inexperienced girl to be vulnerable and nervous around older students. Ginny naively sought comfort in the diary of Tom Riddle, believing that she finally had someone besides her bothersome brothers in whom she could confide.

After her first year, Ginny became more wary of the dark arts, and more determined to protect herself. By her fourth year, she had grown out of her daydreams, and flourished socially. Much to the dismay of the overprotective Ron, his popular younger sister became a favorite amongst the adolescent males of Hogwarts. Though her earlier experiences with Harry were awkward and humiliating, Ginny found that she could be quite sociable with other boys.

Ginny will befriend almost anyone. She doesn’t particularly care what others think of her (though she did seem unsure about attending the Yule Ball with Neville Longbottom in her third year). In her fourth year, she became affable with the unconventional Luna Lovegood, and has defended the quirky student on many occasions. The battle at the Department of Mysteries brought out Ginny’s true colors: the red and gold of a brave-hearted Gryffindor.

She is no longer extremely self-conscious, but Ginny has always been sensitive about the state of her possessions, most of which are secondhand. Her wand and school books belonged to her brothers, but luckily, as she is the only female in her family, most of her robes are new.

Though she is far more bold and modern than her mother, Ginny does possess a maternal instinct that she obviously bequeathed from Mrs. Weasley. She has been known to lecture her brothers in a tone of sassy superiority. Likewise, she can be worrisome and invade personal space. Both of these qualities are in line with her rather short temper.
